토론토 컬리지 자체 시험을 대비한 라이팅(에세이) 작성 _ 에세이 샘플.

토론토 컬리지 입학을 위하여 어학원에서 Path Way과정을 진행할 때 가장 어려웠던 파트는 아무래도 Argument 였다. 

당시 수업 방식은 이러 하였다. 

우선 학생들이 각자 원하는 주제를 하나씩 제출하면 선생님이 무작위로 몇 개를 선택하는 것이다. 

그렇게 되면 3~4명이 한팀이 되어 그 주제에 대해 긍정적인 입장, 또 다른 팀은 부정적인 입장으로 서로 논쟁을 벌이는 것이다. 

아무래도 본인이 주제에 대해 이해하여야 하고 많은 정보를 취합하여 사실에 근거하여 설득을 시키는 것은 쉽지 않다. 

상대방의 질문에 대한 리스닝 후 스피킹을 해야 하는 것이 다시 생각해도 너무 어렵다. 

 

각기 다른 나라에서 살아 왔기에 문화의 차이 또한 커서 상대방을 설득하는 데 있어선 미국 뉴스나 캐나다 뉴스를 구글에서 검색하여 설명을 하는 것이 가장 유리하긴 하였지만 그런 정보를 찾고 그걸 읽어서 주제와 맞는지 확인하는 일이 시간이 많이 걸렸던 거 같다. 

 

토론토 컬리지 역쉬 패스웨이 과정에서 했던 부분을 다시 한다. 

그렇기에 어떠한 주제를 정한 뒤 혼자 이미지 트레이닝을 하며 누군가를 설득시킨다는 생각으로 연습을 해보는 것이 도움이 될 것이다. 

 

 

 

 

Topic: Is it right for the government to provide support to the public when purchasing electric vehicles?

 

 

Many people believe that electric cars are  safe. Of course, electric car does’t have a fire power device, and 

In crash tests, it was found that electric cars performed on par with their gasoline-powered counterparts(1), so People can think it is safer than a normal car.

 

However, electric car has dangerous problems.that is safety. There are three main factors to support this point of view: get an electric shock, explosion hazard, and verifiability.

 

First, although some people say that electric cars have no internal defects,  electric cars can cause electrical shock problem.

For example, when it rains or snows, people are exposed to the risk of electric shock when people charge their cars. 

To make matters worse, electric stations are located outside and there are no ceilings.

In other words, if you touch an electrical device with water on your hands, you are exposed to danger.

If a driver is careless around the electrical cables inside the car, or if they encounter faulty and malfunctioning equipment, they could be electrocuted.

 

Therefore, there is no need for the government to support such a dangerous electric car.

 

Second, electric cars are efficient because they do not use gasoline and diesel, but electric cars that use 

Lithium batteries are likely to explode.

 

Lithium batteries explode easily because they are weak against heat. 

For example, many people will remember that Samsung’s smart phone exploded.the cause is lithium batteries.

And, there was also an accident in which an electric car exploded. It was an explosion, not just fire.

According to CNN “ the explosion launched the garage door clean off and sent it flying across the street”

 

 

As, motioned earlier, Electric cars are powered by lithium batteries and some can overheat in extreme temperatures.

Thus, the government dose not need to support electric cars that can cause multiple people to get hurt in the explosion.

 

Finally, Many people believe that electric cars do not emit gas, so they do not harm their health. However, 

Running an electric car can cause cancer from electromagnetic waves.

 

Finally, Smoke from diesel cars causes cancer, Electric cars can also cause cancer in the driver.

 

 

For example, according to Electromagnetic Radiation Safety , “Hybrid and electric cars may be cancer-causing as they emit extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields (EMF). 

 

To be honest, no one can make a conclusion about it, but one thing for sure is that the electric car’s driver can get cancer.

 

Therefore, what people want is that people drive safely with faith in cars whoever they are.

The government should not put its people at risk by supporting dangerous electric vehicles.

 

위 방식은 단순하게 라이팅 형식으로 작성 하였지만, 이렇게 작성하여 우선 스피킹 한 뒤 중간중간 상대방의 의견에 대해 답변을 하는 것이 그나마 편한 방식이었다.
